The Democratic Challenge: Creating the Image of Leadership

Video: Disillusionment with George W. Bush is not enough to guarantee a Democratic victory in November. The Democrats suffer from a loss of credibility in many areas. The Democratic Left is viewed as less than patriotic, too solicitous of the interests of the world in General and less concerned with the power, prestige and security of America. Bill Clinton made the Democrats victorious by moving them from the Left to the Center. But the rift between the Democratic Left and the Democratic Center, especially over the issue of the war in Iraq, threatens to split the party before the election. And no charismatic leader has emerged to heal the breach.
