Video: The new Pope will face many challenges. The first will be the difficulty of following the charismatic John Paul II. the second will be the declining power of Catholicism in Europe and Latin America. The most enthusiastic Catholics now live in Asia, Africa and Latin America. The third will be the shrinking priesthood. John Paul II was adamantly opposed to married priests. But the Church cannot function without its clergy. Will the new Pope be an ideological twin to the former Pope? Benedict was Cardinal Ratzinger, the defender of Catholic Orthodoxy.
